I do love a courtroom drama, and Steve Cavanagh never fails to deliver with his Eddie Flynn series! Danny Millar has been named as serial killer The Sandman, and the police are convinced that Carrie not only knew of the murders that he carried out, but that she assisted him, including providing an crucial alibi for him。 However, Carrie denies this, and Eddie believes her, which is why he agrees to take on her case。 The rollercoaster starts here and it does not disappoint - the story slows though twists and turns and I couldn’t wait to see how it ended up, and I was not disappointed。 This is a strong, well plotted story, with well written characters。 I have read all of the Eddie Flynn books, but this could easily be read as a stand-alone, although I would encourage anyone to read the whole series。 What I particularly enjoy is the balance of the story - lots of books are written with lots of plot twists, however many of them fall into the trap of just having that one or two plot twists too many。 For example, if there is a serial killer on a remote island, they don’t have to have a grudge with every single other individual on the island, in my opinion。 However, with this book and the other eddie Flynn books, the solution isn’t necessarily something you’ll see coming, but it hasn’t been wrestled out of thin air just to provide an unguessable twist either。 I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a well paced thriller, a courtroom drama, strong convincing characters, or just a damn good story! I already can’t wait for the next one!I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Has she been duped and betrayed by Daniel? How can you not know your husband is a serial killer? Kate believes Carrie is a victim too but many a Joe Public believes she’s guilty so would she ever get a fair trial? The team are up against it with this one but let’s face it, when are they not??!! Wow, with this powerful latest instalment of this terrific series I don’t know if my heart is in my mouth or it’s sinking, all I can tell is that it’s all over the place!First of all, The Sandman。 He’s audacious, cunning, and very clever and to say he is without scruple is a huge understatement。 Some of the ideas the author introduces about him are excellent and allow you to get a clear picture。 The tension is utterly taut, it’s creepy and chilling, scary and frightful and beyond dangerous, yet Steve Cavanagh knows just went to release the built up tension by giving us a smile or a chuckle。 Thank you!The characterisation is tremendous and I really like the introduction of Gabriel Lake, ex FBI agent who joins the tightknit family team of Eddie and Co。 He is a fascinating conundrum。 The bond of Eddie’s team is terrific , when they’re down so are you and when they’re up you cheer with them。 The plot as fast paced and on occasions it’s belting along at warp speed making it exciting and completely gripping。 At times I yell ‘Nooooo’ which gets a few odd glances but that’s how involved you get。 It’s almost like you’re there and living it with them。 The courtroom scenes are, as ever, completely electric with plenty of entertaining and lively Eddie moves that fans of the series love so much。 Just like Eddie in the courtroom the author plays the reader like a fiddle, fool me once, oh okay, at least twice! The twists are belters, the tension is palpable along with the breathtaking suspense which all amounts to yet another cracking read and an easy five stars from me。Can’t wait for the next instalment !With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Orion Publishing for that much appreciated arc in return for an honest review。 。。。more

One of the best things about this series is opening the latest book and feeling like you are meeting up with those friends you are so fond of but you haven’t seen in a while。 I love Cavanagh’s characters, each of them bringing something different to the team。 My favourite parts are always going to be Eddie in the courtroom and as per usual I was totally in awe of his ability to rock an seemingly impossible situation。 It’s a super creepy book and I for one will never listen to *that* song without chills again。 As per usual, I finished the book with my jaw on the floor and my mind blown。 Loved it。 This is the perfect book either if you are a fan of the Eddie Flynn series or if you are only just discovering the author (Where have you been? Make up for lost time and read the rest!) It’s brilliant for fans of legal thrillers, crime fiction and a good twisty plot。 Thank you for Steve Cavanagh, Orion publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
Maria,
Initial thoughts (full review to come):Where to start with a review for a book that ticks all of the boxes for being thrilling, twisty, full of the unexpected, the latest novel from the genius that is Steve Cavanagh?Well, I might as well admit that I'm half-asleep from staying up to read 'The Accomplice'。 I should know better by now than to start reading a new Steve Cavanagh (or re-reading if I'm being honest) in the evening time as there is zero likelihood of my going to bed on time。 Very much Initial thoughts (full review to come):Where to start with a review for a book that ticks all of the boxes for being thrilling, twisty, full of the unexpected, the latest novel from the genius that is Steve Cavanagh?Well, I might as well admit that I'm half-asleep from staying up to read 'The Accomplice'。 I should know better by now than to start reading a new Steve Cavanagh (or re-reading if I'm being honest) in the evening time as there is zero likelihood of my going to bed on time。 Very much worth it though。'The Accomplice' is the seventh novel in the crime series, starring one Eddie Flynn - a lawyer in NYC。 Over the series, Eddie has graduated from working on small cases for little money to now having a well-established reputation of the lawyer for those in trouble。 And this time around, the client is definitely in trouble。 Carrie Miller has become the most hated woman in America since she was arrested by the FBI for being the accomplice when her husband Daniel Miller was committing a series of shocking and brutal murders through the city。 The FBI have been unable to find the killer, nicknamed The Sandman but have uncovered some evidence to connect Carrie to the crimes。Days before her trial is due to commence and Otto Peltier, the trial prep lawyer has appealed to Eddie and his team for help。 The reason for approaching Eddie? He is certainly a hotshot and successful lawyer but Carrie believes that Eddie and his team will prove her Innocence。 The team (Eddie, Harry, Bloch, Kate and Denise) agree that they believe Carrie and are soon deep into the investigation。 Meanwhile, we meet both Delaney and a profiler named Gabriel Lake。 Although working on a different side of the investigation from Eddie, we heard their own thoughts and viewpoints。 Adding an extra layer of depth to the tale and lead us to question where their loyalties lie。And then we receive the final character - The Sandman。 Our serial killer is deeply angry over his wife's arrest and probable conviction。 And he decides to eliminate some of the obstacles (or witnesses) in the way。 Eddie and team find themselves split between 1) trying to build and defend the case against Carrie, 2) tracking down The Sandman and 3) reinvestigate the murders。 Each element of the investigation weaves another layer of mystery around the Sandman and his chilling ability to hunt and kill faster than the police and FBI can catchup。 Eddie soon finds himself racing along a dangerous precipice, where one mistake will cost the lives of his team and anyone who angers The Sandman。 From the opening page of the FBI arrest, to the final page, there are twists and double twists to keep the reader engaged and the pace does not let up for a moment。 Grab some coffee, find a comfy place to sit and then sit down to read The Accomplice n one sitting! 。。。more

So a truly outstanding read it’s deserving of more than 5 stars, I have nothing bad to say about it it was a dream of a read and I was sorry to finish it and as always can’t wait for the next in series。 Massive thanks to Steve Cavanagh you sir are a true genius I love reading and you are reason why I do with your brilliant plots and characters, long may you continue。 My thanks also to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion。 。。。more
